Care: Cracking is normal and can be reduced by oiling the uncoated wood with mineral oil. Leave the brush in a dry spot after use to reduce cracking.
Compostable: The handle and bristles are biodegradable but contain metal pieces, so if you do compost it you will need to fish out the metal staples later from your compost. We suggest burying it in a spot in the garden so it can break down, which will take some time.
Sustainability note: For the wood handle, we do not use the species of Teak that is endangered. White Teakwood is a different species that is very fast-growing (similar to bamboo) and even considered a weed in some countries because it grows so fast.
