Packed full of Garden ingredients, this recipe is hyper-simple, but the process is not – everything is truly made by hand and sourced from a fully traceable collection of growers. One important example is our Babassu Oil, which we sourced as an alternative to dreadful Palm Oil. It is harvested on the perimeter of the rainforest in Brazil by local communities, rather than industrialized. The seeds are gathered by a collective of Indigenous women who use the funds to directly support their families and community.

Exfoliating Peppermint:

• Story: The morning alarm clock we need. This big chunk of a Bar Soap has become my favorite way to wake up.  As soon as the Soap hits the hot water, I get hit with a sharp, cool energizing tingle that fills the entire bathroom and travels down the hallways. It’s got a fistful of Organic Peppermint that energizes, French Blue Clay that draws out impurities, and Big Sur Sea Salt which exfoliates and mineralizes. This process removes dead cells, allowing skin to become more receptive to all actives and moisture.
• Makeup: We chose Poppy Seeds as the exfoliant because their roundness smoothes out the skin evenly and gently — with no sharp edges, meaning no micro-tears. Our Sea Salt is sustainably sourced from the waters of Big Sur. Our friend Carlo Overhulser harvests evaporating seawater, which contains a complex mixture of minerals, trace elements, and organic matter that are unique to each ocean and region. His process of evaporation concentrates these components in a painstaking process, resulting in a distinctive texture.
• Ingredients: Organic Babassu Seed Oil, Organic Olive Fruit Oil, Big Sur Sea Salt, French Blue Clay, Organic Black Poppyseeds, Organic Peppermint Essential Oil, Sodium Hydroxide* (*Used for saponification, none remains in final product)

Lavender & Activated Charcoal:

• Story: This is one of the most unique Soaps we make. The fragrance is outrageous – the aroma fills a room even when it’s not being used. Black like the night, this Bar Soap purifies the skin with Sage and activated Charcoal; then, regenerative California Lavender warms and soothes you into reverie.
• Makeup: The aroma of the Soap is 100% Essential Oil of Lavender and Black Sage Hydrosol, gently folded into a base of Charcoal, Babassu, and Olive Oil. It is crafted lovingly by hand with ancient soap-making practices. It will transform the way you bathe, and you’ll feel it on your body the whole day.
  
• Fragrance: Black Sage and Activated Charcoal purifies, cleanses and grounds you in the black earth beneath you. Lavender warms, soothes and lulls you into reverie.
• Ingredients: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil*, Salvia Mellifera (Black Sage) Hydrosol Water*, Water/Aqua/Eau, Sodium Hydroxide**, Lavandula Intermedia Flower/Leaf/Stem Oil*, Carbo Activatus (Activated Charcoal) (*Organic, **Used for saponification, none remains in final product)

Jasmine Damask Rose:

• Story: When we renovated the house, I planted climbing Jasmine around the window to the shower. The smell is overwhelming and intoxicating. This was the inspiration for this Bar Soap - packed with Jasmine and Damask Rose. I believe it’s the most beautiful thing we’ve ever made. 8 Essential Oils inside the bar make it layered and exciting. We added in so much of the Garden: Damask Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Rose Geranium, Grapefruit, Bergamot grown wild on the coast of the Ionian Sea, Brazilian Babassu, and Olive Oils.
• Makeup: Our Jasmine comes from a third-generation Egyptian farm. In the middle of the night, the Jasmine begins to bloom. Right when the day breaks, the small flower is hand-collected and distilled right as the bud begins to open. What results is an aromatic miracle — musky with a honey-like undertone.

Rosemary Green Leaf Parsley:

• Story: If we took the entire garden and tossed it into a blender, this is what we’d make.
  
  This Soap Brick is a tribute to the green, living heart of Flamingo Estate — Roman Parsley and fresh-cut Rosemary, picked at their most fragrant and alive. It’s the smell of the herb beds in late spring, when the sun warms the soil and your hands come back inside smelling like lunch and medicine all at once.
• Makeup: Roman Parsley is sharper and stronger than its common cousin — bold, mineral, with a hint of licorice and old apothecaries. The Romans believed it cleared the mind and settled the spirit. And we do too. Rosemary is the scent of memory. It's been burned in temples, steeped in teas, and pressed into oil for centuries to sharpen the senses and lift the fog. At Flamingo, it grows wild and hungry — soft and silver-green, covered in bees.
  
  We mix both into a base of French Green Clay, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Brazilian Babassu — a rich, nutritious oil harvested by hand on the edges of the rainforest. The Babassu seeds are gathered by a collective of Indigenous women in Brazil, whose work supports their families and protects their land.

About the soaps:

We’re serious about what goes into our Soaps. It starts with the plants we grow in our gardens, each one selected for its unique properties. When the time is just right, we harvest these ingredients by hand to capture their peak freshness. In our kitchen, these botanicals are blended in small batches, maintaining the integrity of each ingredient. We then cut the Soaps into generous bricks. This process is deliberate and mindful, ensuring that every bar delivers a rich, nourishing experience for your skin.

We grow our own ingredients, hand-harvesting them at their peak to ensure every bar is packed with natural goodness. Our Soaps are crafted in small batches, so you get a product that’s as unique as it is effective.

Our gentle ingredients like calendula and olive oil make our soaps suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Our Soaps are gentle enough for facial use and provide nourishing benefits with every wash.

Flamingo Estate is based in Los Angeles, CA. The Estate is a large home and garden atop an orchard overlooking Los Angeles. Many scents are inspired and crafted by the farm and farmers.
